As a Real Estate professional aside from helping people to buy and sell real estate, I have the opportunity to recommend other professionals to my clients. Such as Lawyers, home inspectors, radon and mold mitigation specialists and Mortgage brokers.
I am sure you are a lot like me and if someone I already know and trust recommends a professional or service to me that carries a lot more weight then be just picking a name off a website or out of a phonebook (do they still print those?) And in the case of certain professions it is more likely you will get business from my referral then you will from any other form of advertising.
This especially hold true for Mortgage brokers, now I am not talking about the loan officer in your local bank. I am talking about people that own their own mortgage company one that you would probably never hear of if not for a recommendation from a friend or real estate agent.
One such mortgage specialist is helping a client I am very good friends with buy a short sale, aside from my clients constant frustration with this person (seems every time he calls him he has to remind him of who he is and what deal it is) This person took it upon himself to tell my client that he knows more than me? Now, I don’t claim to know everything, but I certainly wouldn’t disparage another professional I have to count on to help me make money… And the funny part is this home buyer is so frustrated with this “Mortgage Professional” that he was saying to me he was seriously considering finding someone else that can write this loan, and I told him I didn’t think that was a good idea.
Well obviously I will not be recommending this person or his mortgage company to anyone else ever again!!! Live and learn!Recent Posts
